Whether it's a lockdown, quarantine or a self-imposed retreat into your own four walls: Corona has shown many a people just what it's like to be alone. But what many people don't realize is that loneliness and isolation are part of the plight of everyday life for millions of older people. But you don't necessarily have to just accept that. The fact that you can do something against being alone, even with complete strangers, is shown, for example, by the voluntary employees of the Berlin-based association Silbernetz e. V. Via the nationwide hotline 0800 4 70 80 90, they are available to anyone who needs someone to talk to. It goes without saying that we at Snom are happy to support such a commitment, especially when a man (or woman) is in need. In concrete terms, an increased demand for desk telephones and headsets had arisen among our silver network friends due to their pandemic-related forced move to their home office - a gap that we were able to fill quickly with 100 D715 desktop telephones and the corresponding A170 headsets through our long-standing partner Merlin Wolf. We have now learned from Elke Schilling, the initiator of Silbernetz, what this help has achieved:
"The active support from your company is one of the main reasons why Silbernetz has been able to successfully make itself available to callers from all over Germany since the beginning of the Corona crisis. We were able to bring ¾ of our permanent employees and numerous volunteers at home via 0800 4 70 80 90 back into our network. As a result, we were and still are able to answer the 70-110 different callers with up to 200 calls - sometimes lasting up to an hour - every day. We are called from all federal states and new callers are added daily."
Great to hear and glad we could help!
