Hygiene remains key for hospitality communications

Like many sectors, the UK’s hospitality industry has been significantly impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. With most hospitality businesses set to reopen their doors on July 4th, “hygienic telephoning” will remain vital for the safety of employees.

Those businesses offering accommodation and catering still take many of their bookings and handle customer enquiries via telephone - more so than in almost any other industry. Due to changing shifts and multiple employees handling the same operations, a phone can pass through many different hands over the course of a day – whether at reception, at the counter or in the service area.

Phone handsets and keypads of landline phones, as well as mobiles, are amongst the most germ-laden devices in the workplace – bacteria and viruses can easily survive on these surfaces for days.

This is where Snom’s M90 comes in. This white cordless DECT handset has been specifically designed for environments where cleanliness and hygiene are of the utmost importance.

Thanks to its special antibacterial housing (tested in accordance with JIS Z 2801), and the fact that it is incredibly easy to clean, bacteria has little chance of surviving. Often used in the health and care sectors, this model can also be disinfected. Its surface material is designed for the use of isopropyl alcohol with up to 99% concentration.

The lightweight (130 g), compact model is also extremely robust and offers protection against dust and water splashes. It can also withstand being dropped from a height of up to 2 meters (IP65 protection class and military standard certification MIL-STD 810g 516.6).

It features a high-resolution colour display, a large navigation key, Bluetooth connectivity and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. An integrated alarm button can also be used in emergencies to help keep employees safe.

Numerous functions such as speed dial numbers or conference calls, 200 hours standby and up to 12 hours talk time round off its impressive performance spectrum.

Gernot Sagl, CEO of Snom Technology GmbH said: “Hygiene will, of course, be key for hospitality businesses when they return in July. Employers have a responsibility to keep employees safe while allowing them to continue doing their jobs – this is why having phones such as the M90, that are easy to be cleaned and disinfected after use, should be considered a priority.”
