Wireless audio and data transmission

Depending on the product group, you will find various audio and data transmission technologies in Snom devices. These include the connection of headsets (Bluetooth), or optimal mobile audio transmission (DECT), but also the possibility of wirelessly integrating desk telephones into the telephony network (WLAN).

Wireless technologies used at Snom

Bluetooth is a wireless technology standard for the exchange of data over short distances (using short-wave UHF radio waves in the ISM band from 2.4 to 2.485 GHz) between stationary and mobile devices and for the establishment of personal area networks (PANs).

Bluetooth unterstützt die Übertragung von Sprache und Daten.

Usage with Snom:
Snom uses the Bluetooth standard to connect desk phones (e.g. Snom D785) or DECT handsets (e.g. Snom M70, Snom M80, Snom M90) with cordless headsets.

Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT, originally Digital European Cordless Telephony) is an international standard for telecommunications using radio technology, especially for cordless telephones.

DECT basically works connection-oriented and is primarily designed for so-called picocellular telephony inside buildings, in which a range or cell radius of 30 to 50 metres can be achieved; outdoors, transmission distances of 300 metres are possible. The maximum permitted output power is 250 mW.

Usage with Snom:
Snom uses the DECT standard in a variety of products, including the M-Series and MSC-Series. Furthermore in our cordless headsets (Snom A150 and Snom A170) as well as for the extension of the Snom C520 with the Snom C52-SP.

Wi-Fi or WiFi short for (Wireless Fidelity) is a technology for wireless local area networking (WLAN) of devices based on the IEEE 802.11 standard..

Wi-Fi most commonly uses the 2.4 gigahertz (12 cm) UHF and 5.8 gigahertz (5 cm) SHF ISM radio bands, these bands are divided into multiple channels.

Usage with Snom:
Snom uses WiFi technology in the Snom A210 WLAN Dongle, which is designed to connect Snom's desk phones wirelessly to the local network.

Near Field Communication (NFC) is an international transmission standard based on RFID technology for the contactless exchange of data via electromagnetic induction over short distances of a few centimetres and a maximum data transmission rate of 424 kbps.
